The click 3x in 30 seconds after either turning on key or starting don't work. Manual says call dealer for instructions. I have not tried the 20 clicks sequence yet. Yeah, I think disconnecting the battery is the only way. I tried repeating the disable process (which, IIRC, would have restored the chime on my old Subaru) and it had no effect on my Gen 5. I spared some time to disconnect the battery and FINALLY the seatbelt warning and chime were enabled.All while sitting in the driver's seat. Turn the key to on but do not start. Insert and remove the seatbelt 20 times within 30 seconds. Then start. Now you have disabled the chime and warning light. All other functions still work.
